Has Whoopi Goldberg reached an age where she confuses her acting roles in Star Trek and The Stand with reality? Does she believe she’s a beacon of wisdom and insight that people flock to for guidance? That’s far from the truth. There is no crowd eagerly awaiting her nuggets of wisdom. For many, it’s hard to believe she possesses basic common sense, let alone profound wisdom. Yet, this doesn’t deter her from pretending to be a sage whose insights we’re all eager to hear.
Election season is upon us once again, and if there’s one topic that older left-leaning women seem particularly passionate about, it’s abortion.
When these women want to challenge the Christian belief in a God who cares about the lives of unborn children, they venture into deep theological waters — often too deep for them to navigate comfortably.
Here’s Whoopi arguing that abortion is trivial because it wasn’t included in the Ten Commandments given to Moses. Yet, even another host pointed out the glaring flaw in her argument: the commandment “thou shalt not kill”… (especially relevant as a ‘fifty-week-old’ is no longer an unborn child, but an infant).
Despite this, she was so invested in her argument that she continued to display her ignorance. She talks about other forms of killing — wars, for example — and insists there must be a distinction… not realizing that ‘committing murder’ is much more nuanced than simply taking a life.
War can sometimes be necessary for achieving a greater good — like defending your home. The same applies to their reference to guns. Moses made it clear that defending your home from an intruder does not violate the commandment.
But taking a life because it inconveniences you? That’s cold-blooded murder. That’s EXACTLY what the Commandment forbids… and precisely the type of fatal decision being made when endorsing abortion.
Rather than attempting to lecture us on the second half of what Moses brought down from Mount Sinai, perhaps Whoopi should focus on understanding the first few commandments… especially the first one about ‘no other gods’.
