Elon Musk, the visionary behind Tesla and SpaceX, has recently drawn attention to a matter of grave concern that is largely ignored by the Democrat-led administration. He warns of an impending “population collapse” as birth rates across the globe continue to plummet. This decline in fertility rates threatens not only our economy but also the very fabric of our civilization.
Musk’s warning comes in response to recent data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) which shows that birth rates have dropped to 1.61 live births per woman, lower than it was during the height of the Covid pandemic in 2020 when it was 1.63 babies per woman. Countries like the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and Europe are all experiencing significant declines.
In a tweet dated April 27, Musk wrote, “Record low birth rates are leading to population collapse in Europe and even faster population collapse in most of Asia. Immigration is low in Asia, so there is no “replacement” going on, the countries are simply shrinking away.”
While Democrats remain focused on divisive identity politics and unnecessary spending sprees, they turn a blind eye to this looming crisis. The math is simple: if women have fewer than two babies each, our population will decline; fewer than one and it collapses; no babies at all would lead to human extinction within a short generation.
Yet instead of addressing this pressing issue head-on, Democrats seem more interested in inflating our national debt which now stands at a staggering $34.5 trillion. Meanwhile, institutions crumble under labor shortages as baby boomers retire en masse.
It’s high time we shift our focus towards preserving and nurturing our civilization rather than squandering resources on short-sighted policies. Elon Musk is right. It’s all a matter of basic math.
