It appears that what Joe Biden says is not necessarily what he truly means. His frequent verbal missteps and errors have become a commonplace occurrence, with the President even admitting recently that voters might not be able to trust him. However, these slips of the tongue seem to magically disappear when the White House releases official transcripts of his speeches.
Interestingly, a report from the Daily Caller reveals that his speeches and their transcripts have been “fixed” 148 times just this year. The publication analyzed Biden’s public remarks since the start of 2024 and found that the communications staff has had to correct them at least 148 times.
“The White House releases an official transcript anytime the president gives a speech or takes questions. Communications staff frequently correct, add to or alter Biden’s official remarks in order to either bring them into compliance with official White House policy or, in some cases, reality, a Daily Caller analysis showed. In several cases, official statements had to be changed to convey the exact opposite of what Biden actually said.”
This alarming frequency of corrections averages more than one “fix” per statement or speech. Sometimes it involves changes to names or dates; other times it alters verbs and completely modifies “the meaning of the president’s statement entirely,” according to the report.
For instance, there was an occasion when he said, “We must be honest: The threat to democracy must be defended,” when he meant to say “…must be defeated.” In another instance last week, he read out loud a teleprompter instruction “Pause”, which was later labeled as “inaudible” in the transcript.
Such instances of ‘fixing’ Biden’s speeches are not only concerning but also highlight a major issue. It’s high time that the administration takes responsibility for its actions and stops trying to ‘cover up’ these blunders. In a democratic nation, it is vital for citizens to trust their leaders, and this constant altering of facts does nothing but erode that trust.
