In a shocking display of intolerance, an all-female dance group from Seattle was allegedly told to remove their American flag-themed shirts because they were deemed offensive and unsettling to some left-leaning individuals. The Borderline Dance team asserts that the Rain Country Dance Association, a gay organization that sponsors the Emerald City Hoedown in Seattle, deemed their red, white, and blue uniforms inappropriate.
According to the dance team’s post on their Facebook page, “Unfortunately, what our team was met with upon arrival was that our flag tops were offensive to some of the convention goers. There was a small group that felt ‘triggered and unsafe.’”
This incident is an alarming reflection of how far-left ideologies are suppressing freedom of expression and patriotism in our society today. It’s disheartening when expressions of national pride are met with such hostility. The dance troupe was not promoting any political agenda; they simply wanted to perform in outfits representing their love for their country.
“At first we were told we would just be boo’d, yelled at and likely many of them would walk out,” the group’s Facebook post explained. “This did not deter us. But then we were given an ultimatum. Remove the flag tops and perform in either street clothes (which most didn’t bring as they traveled there in their uniforms) or they would supply us with ECH shirts from years past… Or, don’t perform at all, which effectively was asking us to leave.”
The dancers’ refusal to succumb to this unjust demand is commendable. They stood up for their rights and values despite being faced with exclusion from the event. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle to preserve freedom of expression and patriotism in the face of increasing leftist intolerance.
