Appeals Court Gives Good News To Former Twitter Troll Convicted For 2016 Hillary Meme (Video)

Earlier this week, the U.S. Second Court of Appeals delivered optimistic news to Douglass Mackey, also known as “Ricky Vaughn” on social media.

Mackey, previously known for posting political jokes and memes during the early days of the MAGA Meme Lords back in 2016, faced charges of “election interference” in 2021. He was later convicted of “conspiracy against rights” for sharing a meme that encouraged Hillary supporters to text their vote.

On Monday, the Court of Appeals granted Mackey’s motion for release pending appeal, allowing him to remain free during the appeal process. The court also expedited the appeal, setting a schedule for brief submissions and an appeal date.

“Breaking: Doug Mackey has been ordered to be released pending appeal,” tweeted Jack Poso (@JackPosobiec) on December 4, 2023.

Just to recap, Mackey faced a 7-month jail sentence for a joke he posted in 2016. He stated in an interview with Tucker Carlson that he wasn’t aware of any wrongdoing until eight or more law enforcement officers arrived at his door to arrest him in January 2021.

The Biden DOJ’s swift action against Mackey contrasts with their approach to the 2020 BLM and Antifa rioters, prompting public outcry and accusations of partisanship.

Matt Christiansen of Tenet Media shared a video recap of the story for those interested.

The conviction of Mackey has sparked criticism of the U.S. justice system and its apparent partisanship.

“Douglas Mackey should have never gone to jail in the first place! One of the worst violations of free speech of our time!” tweeted Marjorie Taylor Greene (@mtgreenee) on December 5, 2023.

Furthermore, the handling of Mackey’s case is being contrasted with the response to anti-semitic chants on Ivy League campuses, where university leaders are now facing backlash and donor withdrawals.

Amidst this, the individual targeted by Mackey’s posts insinuates that the ongoing political prosecution would be a threat to democracy under a second Trump administration.

So, Trump, the man facing charges in several states by the administration of his political opponent, who chose not to pursue Hillary for her emails after stating she should be in jail and had tens of thousands of supporters chanting “Lock Her Up” at rallies, is going to prosecute Lib sh-tposters for improper memes now?

Commitments, commitments.

Where would Trump’s DOJ locate the time and resources to pursue all of those individuals?

After all …
