In an alarming display of misinformation, the Biden White House recently put forth a claim that is patently false. It was stated that “guns are the number one killer of children.”
This assertion not only manipulates the data but also misrepresents facts to push a particular narrative. It’s a classic example of how Democrats often resort to scare tactics and misleading information in order to advance their agenda.
Breitbart reports:
“On Wednesday, the Biden White House posted the demonstrably false claim that “guns are the number one killer of children.” Breitbart News showed this claim to be false when President Joe Biden first made it on June 2, 2022. Breitbart News dug into the data and found that 18- and 19-year-olds (i.e., people of voting age) had to be counted as children in order for his claim to be accurate. But 18- and 19-year-olds are not children, and therefore, Biden’s claim was false, just as the White House’s current claim is false.”
Furthermore, it’s necessary to delve deeper into this issue for a clear understanding. A FOX News report from May 26, 2022 highlighted that Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) figures show firearm-related deaths of people ages 0-19 totaled 4,368 in 2020 while motor vehicle deaths for the same age range totaled 4,036. This led gun control groups to erroneously assert more children die from guns than in car accidents.
However, when Breitbart News conducted a custom search on CDC numbers limiting ‘children’ category to those aged between 0-17 (below voting age), they found completely different results. The number of firearm-related deaths for children aged between 0-17 was actually 2,281 in 2020, while the number of motor vehicle deaths for the same age group was higher at 2,503. Even more revealing was the fact that within the expanded age range of 0-19, CDC numbers show unintentional motor vehicle deaths were 27 times higher than unintentional firearm-related deaths.
Such blatant manipulation and misrepresentation of data by the Biden administration is a clear indication of their desperate attempts to control the narrative. It’s crucial for us to remain vigilant and question such misleading claims that are being made with political motivations in mind.
