The former are amused while the latter are incensed. This is especially since Hur recommended no charges be brought against Biden due to his diminished mental capacities, which include forgetfulness about key dates and events. This recommendation has been viewed by some as an attempt to portray him as a well-intentioned but feeble old man if he were to stand trial.
Despite their frustration over Biden’s evasion of criminal court, the GOP couldn’t help but derive satisfaction from Hur’s recommendation. On the other hand, Democrats who initially lobbied for Hur to revise his report were outraged when it was released as they are currently pushing for their “diminished” leader to serve another term in the White House.
However, merely knowing about Hur’s conclusion isn’t enough for Biden critics; they want to hear the evidence themselves. As reported by the Washington Examiner, there is increasing pressure on the Biden Department of Justice from Congress and others to release “audio recordings of President Joe Biden’s interview” with Hur.
Despite demands from key figures like House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and conservative groups such as Judicial Watch, Biden’s defenders at the DOJ have remained unyielding. Even requests from CNN have been denied, leading to a standoff.
“This is yet another brazen cover-up,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton, as confirmed by the report. His sentiments were echoed by others who criticized the Biden Justice Department’s assertion that Biden’s privacy concerns justified withholding audio of his criminal interviews with the special counsel.
