President Joe Biden’s Ambassador to Germany, Amy Gutmann returned to the USA after attending the Munich Security Conference with Vice President Kamala Harris. However, Gutmann was forced to fly commercially back to the USA because Kamala Harris refused to let her fly back on Air Force Two.
Reports are that Gutmann is a longtime friend of Jill Biden and that Kamala Harris does not trust her.
Gutmann, who was just appointed is also facing criticism for leaving Munich and returning to the States. After all, the White House lobbied the Senate for a quick confirmation because “they said she was urgently needed in Germany due to an impending war from Russia.”
Joseph Giordono-Scholz, spokesman for the US Embassy in Berlin said that Gutmann is not on vacation and returned to the USA because she is still “in-processing” since she was just confirmed less than a couple of weeks ago.
“Every effort was made for Ambassador Gutmann to be sworn in and credentialed as quickly as possible, precisely so that she could start her tenure quickly and join the key engagements with allies and partners at the Munich Security Conference,” Giordono-Scholz said in an email. “Ambassador Gutmann has temporarily returned to the United States to undertake cross-government consultations on the situation and to complete necessary State Department in-processing and will return to Berlin as soon as possible. Ambassador Gutmann is fully engaged in the critical diplomacy being undertaken at this crucial moment. Any suggestion otherwise is completely false.”
Meanwhile, the shade war between Biden and Kamala continues.
The Vice President’s office did not deny that Gutmann requested a seat on Kamala’s plan and was not allowed to board.
The White House, Vice President’s office, and the State Department refused to comment on the incident which tells you there is a lot more going on than conflicting schedules.
This is such childish behavior what if something happened that required the two of them to make a decision? It could have caused a major international incident.
