This Friday, a bear boldly entered a home in Monrovia, California and made off with what appears to be its favorite snack: Oreos.
The incident took place on Canyon Crest Drive, where the brazen bear was caught on camera by Eyewitness News entering through a window and emerging with a pack of Oreo cookies. This is not an isolated incident; just last week, another bear broke into the same family’s car and helped itself to groceries including – you guessed it – Oreos.
“Video obtained by Eyewitness News shows the hungry bear breaking into the home through a window and coming out with that famous blue pack of Oreo cookies dangling from its mouth.”
It’s clear that these incidents are becoming increasingly common. In fact, one neighbor stated that for the past decade, bears have been growing bolder and claiming more territories as their own.
Vina Khoury, who had her own encounter with a bear last year when it broke into her garage for some chocolate cake, expressed her fear following this latest incident. She said she now feels she can’t even leave a window open because of these bold bears.
No injuries were reported this time around but it’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt if nothing is done about this issue. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has yet to respond or take any action – perhaps they’re too busy dealing with other priorities set by government?
