Share on Facebook Share on TwitterThis Pandemic has changed our way of life. Many students are once again doing virtual classes and that is causing problems for overbearing liberal teachers that feel they should control every aspect of their classroom. A Colorado student found out the hard way just how controlling these liberal teachers can be, after he moved one of his toys from one side of his desk to the other and now he has been suspended for it. But how is this right?
Isaiah Elliott,,12, was of course playing with a toy gun and the teacher, who was recording the class without parental consent, reported the child and the police were called. And what’s truly troubling is that they knew that it was a toy gun the whole time. This is not a case of mistakenly believing it was real. The teachers sent the police to a student’s home over a toy gun in his own room…
The child’s mother expressed her frustration:
“I had already explained to the teacher that it was a toy,” she said. “I told [the vice principal] that it was a toy. She admitted that she knew it was a toy, but Isaiah’s safety was of the utmost importance.”
Dani Elliott told the outlet that she worries about how to properly protect her son.
“How do I protect my son, what do I have him do [when] playing with a toy in the privacy of your own home is a threat?” she said.
Soon after, El Paso County Sheriff’s officers arrived at the home to carry out the wellness check and showed footage of the online classroom incident to the Elliotts.
Isaiah’s mother said that she was very concerned — not because her son was playing with a toy gun, but that the school was reportedly recording the virtual classes without informing parents.”
“…The school determined that the punishment would be appropriate because the child “displayed and waved a firearm facsimile during a virtual classroom” lesson.
Elliott says she has no plans to send her son back to the school, and reveals that Isaiah is now on the waiting list for a local charter school.
“Having toys in my house is something I thought I never had to think of,” she told the outlet. “It never crossed my mind that toys could be seen as a threat.”
This would be far more understandable if the teacher was saying the student was being punished for playing with his toys during class. But to send the police to the house over a toy gun is way over the top. No one was hurt here, this teacher clearly needs to calm down. It was a toy and should be treated as such. Schools need to understand that virtual classes are not the same as regular classes. Kids are going to have toy weapons and there is nothing illegal or morally wrong with that.
