These students were subjected to a mandatory session with a guest speaker who not only lauded Hamas’ terrorist actions on Oct. 7 in Israel as “justice” but also coerced them into participating in what she termed a “non-secular prayer” to “mama earth.”
According to a report by the Washington Free Beacon, parts of this disturbing speech by Lisa Gray Garcia were recorded, showcasing her radical views. In it, she demanded that attendees “get on their knees and touch the floor – ‘mama earth,'” pushing her extremist agenda onto students under the guise of education.
Gray Garcia’s actions at this elite medical school have rightfully sparked outrage and calls for an investigation into why such a speaker was allowed to push her radical views on students. This event went beyond mere education into the realm of indoctrination, with Gray Garcia leading chants of “Free, Free Palestine,” further politicizing what should have been an academic setting.
The Jewish Faculty Resilience group has rightly criticized this event, stating that students were “intimidated” into participating in a “religious service in derogation of their own personal beliefs.” This is not education; it’s coercion and indoctrination at its worst.
This incident at UCLA is indicative of a broader problem within our educational system, where leftist ideologies are being pushed onto students under the guise of diversity and inclusion. It’s time for us to take a stand against this kind of indoctrination and ensure that our educational institutions remain places for open dialogue and learning, not political brainwashing.
